The number 26 seems to strike a chord with me.
- 26 February 2011: I arrived in Melbourne to start a 3-year long degree.
- 26 January 2014: I left Melbourne to start real life.
I am still in love with the city though. Perhaps there is magic in the air there. Or maybe it is because the people I met made such a tremendous impact on me. Whatever it is, something(s) still makes me think about it everyday. Leaving it was one of the hardest things I had to do.
Today is the one year anniversary of that day. It amazes me how much has happened in 365 days. Back then I had just graduated. There was nothing concrete to aim for, I did not even know where to begin.
Now I have a full time job, and I have never been more grateful for it. What a year of amazing opportunities and challenges. Of learning to get a grip and grow up just that little bit more.
But on meaningful days like these, my brain hangs up its metaphorical stilettos and retreats back into the mindset of the girl who huddled in 4 different hoodies to keep warm during the winter. It is also Australia Day today, so naturally I am missing the country (or rather the one city) that stole my heart.
This has been an intense pilot post.
